Wasps North - Drakelow Tunnels - Fuel Wars wrap up
Well here is a breakdown of the WASPS North trip to Drakelow tunnels in my point of view. (Which is dyslexic so sorry for the mistakes.)
Turned up on Friday night to be walked into a bunker which looks like something straight out of a horror movie. We were being walked through countless pitch black tunnels till we hit the camp for the weekend (Also the safe zone).
Story for the weekend and for the fuel wars, You have three teams United America (North and South America), What's left of the UK forces (Government and country has gone to the dogs) and EU (United Europe). All countries are short on fuel and need an answer. UK has gone to pot, the government is nearly non existent when 3 UK scientists developed a new fuel source that should help cure the fuel crisis 1 stays loyal to the UK where the other two want out of what is left of the UK. Each scientist takes a picture of the part of the device they were working on and go off to America and EU governments with the Intel on what they were working on. Each country needs this device but have agreement that neither would enter the UK, as it would lead to the third world war. So each country send in a small unit to get all the parts of the device and get the hell out of there.
So day one we are on the American team. We have 8 players, UK forces have 16 players and EU have 20. So as normal the WASPS are out numbered but not out gunned. We were lead out to our corresponding CP's and given our first task. We need to set up an OP on the EU's CP, take photo's of the camp and keep undetected for 45 mins, before getting back to our CP with the photos and again undetected. As we had a limited 8 man team we decide to leave 3 people in the CP and a 5 man squad go to set up the OP, 3 to actually set up the OP and 2 to cause some trouble and distractions. Me and Fatman are the distraction force, but before we could get into a useful position the three man team gets bumped. Jam and Pete (Random) get tagged and Pieboy left behind a bush. Job now falls on me and Fatman to be the sneaky bastards and get to their camp undetected, So we take a wide arc up a steep hill covered in brambles. Sneaking under a bushes and sliding down hills on our arses. Mean while Pieboy is giving us what Intel he could over the coms. We were close to their base and we are sliding down the hill in the open as it was the only route available, when out of nowhere one of the other teams player appeared, staring right at me. Laying on my back with no cover I am thinking he has spotted me, shot him, I hold my nerve and twitching trigger finger and he walks off!. Finally we are in view of their base, we are laying on a rock with members of the EU team about 20 foot away. Just not close enough for the photo though, so have to prone even closer making no noise at all, We are then welcomed by a metal wire fence. With Fatman holding the fence up I squeezed under and crawled into a badger hole, With the command to Fatman if I start to scream pull me out as the badger is not happy with his visitor. With the 45 mins up and pictures taken we have the whole chore of getting back out the same way we came in, with no water we are slowly dehydrating and only have millions sweets to make do with it. We finally get back to see our CP just about to be bumped. Running back to the CP we dropped the photo's, downed a bottle of powerade and ran back around the corner to see our last man being tagged. So we take cover and wait for them to advance, we kept down as long as our nerve would allow and then let their team have it with two systema's on full auto. Took out about 6 or 7 people before both being tagged. CP then was bumped and hour in the safe zone. Which was not too bad as it was 2 O'clock and we were dying for a drink and food. After an hour the game starts again.
This time we get Intel on the first part of the device and where it was last seen. Being short on players we decide we need to risk the CP being bumped for a chance to take the objectives. So me and Fatman take on defence of our CP and send out the other six men on a hunt. About twenty minutes later an in game marshal tells us to get involved with the action and he would keep an eye on the CP. We decided to take the risk and headed into the tunnels fighting our way through to the point where the Intel said the part was, nothing. (Later to find out our other team members had been in mins before bagged the part and had there own epic escape.)
So after another search around we decide to head back to the CP and out the tunnels to find out what the crack was with the other teams members. As we got to our CP we get tagged by UK forces that had bumped our CP again and taken the objective. Another hour in the safe zone, but again good timing as it was tea time.
During this time the marshal decides to take the action inside the tunnels and as we had little numbers they decided to remove our CP and let us just go in and cause trouble. We were then given more Intel that one of the player/marshals has a part of the device and he is out and about in the tunnels, So go get him. (That leaves one part with the UK forces and another part with the EU team and the final part out there for grabs.) This is where we started coming into our own. Pushing through the tunnels and taking back ground. Getting towards the end of the day and we were in a team of 4 people, our point man gets taken out from someone in the darkness. The shooter made the mistake of thinking it was just him in the tunnel, so he slowly walks out presenting his hand about 5 foot away, giving a single round to the hand, he was down and to our surprise he had the third objective. Grabbing the objective we see a team moving down the tunnel towards us, but they had not spotted us. So for shits and giggles we decide to dig in and wait for a surprise attack instead of being sensible and taking the objective. Waiting to the last min we jump out rinse their team with a little giggle. Just as we had taken them out we get engaged from behind taking most of my squad. Being the last man I grabbed the big case and leg it in to the darkness own my own. After a hard day my arms are killing so have to hip my rifle and carry the big case in the other hand while running around lost in the tunnels. Then I started to think what to do? I will hide it and come back with reinforcements, before realising I have no clue where I am or how to get back. So take a deep breath and keep running, while running around I managed to take 4 people out shooting from the hip and some how I luckily stumbled on the safe zone 3 mins before end ex, Securing the 3rd part as a one man army. That was the end of day one and all tied.
Day two begins. We have been given back up and the American team is now up to 14 people and all the action has been taken inside the tunnels, as a number of players on the other teams have dwindled. We all get a CP within the tunnels and we now have the man power to keep it and get a good attacking force together. So once we are in our CP which is at the very end of a pitch black tunnel we decide we ain't losing our CP today. So me, Fatman, Jam, Bongo (Marshal player) take up defensive positions and send out 2, 5 man attack teams. We sat in the dark with no contacts for 40 mins till the first force steps up, come within about 15 meters of us, Shines a torch over our heads and then walks away, another moment of having the bottle to stay hidden. After a couple of hours and few changes between attacking and defending little had really happened. Then the UK forces managed to take the objective from the EU team who then decide to spit their dummy's out and most of them left. The marshals split down what was left of the EU forces between us and the UK. So with these re-enforcements taking on the defence of the base and we take a look out to attack, as we progress on the tunnel from our CP we hit heavy contact, managing to take a number of players out before being tagged ourselves, we now just had to rely on the new members to hold the CP. After hard fought battle and a re-gen we managed to defend the attack and regroup. So decided it was time to hit them back and hard. Me and three others kept the CP defence up while the rest as one squad headed back to the UK CP. After about 15 mins the first people came back and said they had about taken the base but need pyro. We loaded them with pyro and sent them back in. A little while later we hear running and a few of our men lead by bongo come running in with another piece of the device, 2 bits now in our command. As the others dead players came back to respawn it turns out that the 3 part was just behind the one they had taken, But being that we had taken their CP they were out of the game for half an hour, so sent people back for the last piece. With all the parts of the device together, we then had to get the scientist to put it together, once found he put the pieces together and told Fatman to push a button. Then smoke came out of all the holes in the device and we where informed it was chemical weapon and we had released a virus in the UK.
This was the build up game for their Corp Wars games that are coming up in a few month, But the crack was that the UK was about to fall and they could not get help from EU or the Americans because of their treaty, So they decided to build a chemical weapon and send a scientist to each country with the news of the new power source, which they knew both sides could not resist getting their hands on. What the UK never planned was they fact that the winning side would put the device together in the UK causing the outbreak of the virus in the UK. So as a last ditched effort the UK force set up a tactical nuke with a 45 min count down and the final part of the day starts. 45 mins to fight through all the UK force, find the bomb and disarm it. Well with that in mind we split into two teams and started kicking arse. Me, Fatman, Pieboy and 3 others take the bottom entrance and then all the others hit from the top. We hit hard and fast clearing long corridors with lots of doorways. To a point where I am in one doorway half way down a corridor. I see a hand come out so take the shot, Just missed, damn. So see a part of a face take the shot, just missed, but the ricochet hits him in the face. Just about to tag the guy, but just in time to find out it was Pieboy, oops. We progress on through the rest of the corridors and now we only have the last few men in the last room. We hear a hiss come from a the room and out comes a thermo, which then bounces off the door frame and back in the room, boom that's the rest of there squad down! The whole bunker cleared in a about 30 mins which left 15 mins to disarm the bomb. The Tactical nuke was looking pretty smart, black case with a clear front. From what we could see there was a maroon on the side, a mercury tilt switch on the top and more wires and light than you would like to see. Jam, Fatman and Pieboy gather round with sweaty palms and the timer is ticking. After a lots of chatter, Fatman decides we need to take action, cutting off the maroon waiting for it to go off in his face, ... Nothing, safe. Now for the mercury tilt switch, Pieboy notices that the mercury tilt switch was only activated when tilt one way. So with care Pieboy an Jam lift the box, Fatman then open the box slowly with care, Now one thing left to deactivate the nuke. Just need two switches flipped at the same time. So nervously Fatman and Pieboy slide their hands in and on the count of three, flip.....All the lights turn off, safe! Now victory is ours.
Have to say I know that this was an essay and a half, but wanted to let you guys know what we did while you guys were away at Copehill. The game was very well organised and there was no real problems at all, everyone was taking there hits even with pyro, all in all a great weekend and we managed to impress as a team and keep up the WASPS good name.
Plus there were a few people there that knew you southern guys; a player called Dude passes his wishes on to you lot!
